This week I have only two words for you, be decisive! I don’t care what you are doing or where you are going, when you make a decision to do something stick to it until it is completed. This is the only way to advance yourself and move forward.
When I coach my soccer goalies there are a couple things I tell them on a regular basis, one is to always be decisive. When being indecisive, you might make a lucky save once in a blue moon. But more often than not it is the single easiest way to get scored on. indecision leads to delay which leads to mistakes. If you are going, go if you stay back stay back, but don’t get stuck between the two.
One of the main issues with indecision as a goalie is that when you do get scored on there is nothing you can do to correct it. Looking back at the tape won’t give you any indication as to what you could have done differently. It leaves you in a situation where there is no recovery.
So as I said, BE DECISIVE! Any decision you make will be the best decision you can make at the time given all the information you have. As such, when you have made said decision you should stick to it and see it through until the very end. If things don’t go the way you want when it is over then you can take a minute to look back and figure out what went wrong and what you can do better next time. But if you do not see it through to the end you will be left wondering if there was something else you could have done better.
