With a new year upon us it is time to start looking ahead at what we want to accomplish this year. Now, 2020 was a rather unpredictable year and many of us created New Year plans, goals and resolutions which we really weren’t able to keep due to circumstances outside of our control. But with that being said, it is never a bad idea to start the year off right. So, let’s get right into it.
At one point I had mentioned a 30 day journal to help keep track of what we want to accomplish and what we actually accomplished. This would be the perfect time to start that journal, the beginning of a new year. Just a refresher, every morning when you wake up write down how you are feeling, what you want to accomplish that day and how you plan to accomplish it. At the end of the day before going to bed revisit what you wrote and add to it what you actually accomplished over the course of the day, why you accomplished what you did (if it differs from what you wanted to) and again, how you feel. This will help you keep track of what is going on in day to day and how your emotions can impact what you accomplish. It will also help you get a grip on how to better control your emotions and accomplish what you set out to do.
Now, with 2020 being as unpredictable as it was, you might be hesitant to set goals and resolutions for 2021 as many of us were disappointed that we couldn’t accomplish them. But, I would say now is the perfect time to look back and reevaluate those goals and maybe adjust them so that they are more focused on you. Focus on things that you can do at home, for instance take a new online class or learn a new language. Find goals that you can accomplish regardless of what 2021 throws your way.
With all that being said, let’s look to the future and hope for the best in 2021. It is a new year and a chance to start fresh. Let’s take what we have learned this past year and put it to use!
